The meter was the duplicated one of Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram, a devotional song to Rama and the favorite bhajan of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
My poem was written in tribute to Gandhi's death, still hitting me hard even though I'd never met him, and I wasn't alive during his time. He is an inspiration to me, and I look to him for a guiding phrase whenever I let my anger take me away. He always brings me back.
Good Lord, Linds, Your boundless empathy for people and countries you cannot see astounds me.
I agree with BlueSpartanOfVGC... the "Mother India has been widowed" really got me. I had to stop and think about it a second and then I thought, aw wow. That's a really clever way to put that!
That's the best form of empathy, though, eh? Understanding those who you can't help or see for yourself; it makes you empathize for them even more. ^_^
And, yes, I enjoyed writing that line. Gandhi was called Bapu (father--Baba is another way to say it) by his followers, and I though--"well, he's a father to his people. Then there's Mother India. I'll say they were metaphorically husband and wife."
This makes me wanna look into him more.

Wonderful as always. =3

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it.
